Areas of Practice
Chapter 7 is a short bankruptcy, typically lasting three to four months from start to finish. If you have primarily unsecured debt (credit cards, medical bills, etc.), and are looking to quickly obtain a fresh start, Chapter 7 may be right for you.
Chapter 13 is a longer bankruptcy, typically lasting three to five years, and includes a repayment plan. There are many reasons why a Chapter 13 may be right for you, but the most common include catching up a mortgage or auto loan, lowering payments on an auto loan (via a “cramdown”), or because your income is too high that you do not qualify for Chapter 7.
Bankruptcy isn’t right for everyone. If filing bankruptcy is not the right move for you, we’ll tell you that. We’ll also review the relief and options available to you outside of bankruptcy.
